"I may not like what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it." -- Voltaire It was only a matter of time before the proverbial shit hit the fan and one group or another raised arms to try and get me thrown in jail, decapitated and crushed like the sinister plague that I am. Whether it was the Christian Right, the NRA, the PTA, Republicans or Aunt Bessies Mahjong Club, I knew that eventually something like this would happen. Quite frankly I'm surprised that it took this long for some organization to catch wind of "that guy who actually shows reality for what it is" and make a fuss over it. Quite frankly I'm surprised that it was over a video clip of a cat being cooked by a culture which thinks nothing of eating an abundant animal for survival. Why the hell couldn't this be over something more important, like a human? Now don't get me wrong, I am totally against animal cruelty and have never eaten a cat, nor plan to, but it just seems harder and harder to be offended by the video without seeming like a hypocrite. Someone preparing a meal of an animal that our culture cherishes offends us, yet we brutally slaughter hundreds of millions of animals yearly for consumption. It's just hard to take the moral high-ground on this one if you are a meat eater. Today Wired was kind enough to print an article on this site, and had some delicious quotes from PETA saying that they are going to try and get me prosecuted for distributing animal cruelty. "PETA officials say they are confident the site (Stile Project) will be prosecuted under a new federal law prohibiting depictions of animal cruelty for commercial purposes." If you don't know what I am talking about, a few days ago I posted this video. 600 e-mails later I thought that the issue was over. Far from it. Many people living in Asia e-mailed me confirming that eating cats and dogs is a widely practiced culinary event, and we even tracked down the source of this video. Surprisingly, you can probably rent it at your local video store. PETA, maybe you should also prosecute PBS since they have broadcast the exact same thing many times on a special on foreign cultures and their eating habits. Maybe you should also prosecute AMAZON.COM which SELLS the "Faces Of Death" videos which feature DOGS and CATS being killed and eaten, not to mention cows, sheep, chickens AND humans. Talk about directly profiting from selling animal cruelty! Somehow I doubt that Amazon will ever hear from the Justice Department, but a skinny bald Jew who lives in his mom's basement will. Selling videos that feature animal torture sounds like "the depiction of animal cruelty for commercial purposes" if you ask me. I wasn't exactly selling the video clip for money. Where do we draw the line between animal cruelty and survival? Is it animal cruelty if we eat the animal after we kill it? Where the hell is the People For The Ethical Treatment Of Humans in all this? How come you never hear about them protesting snuff films like Faces Of Death sold on commercial websites? What about the Discovery channel as well? Every day they show animal cruelty. When one animal kills another for survival. I don't know of anything more cruel than that. What about CNN? Daily we see humans murdered in cold blood, yet I don't hear anything about the Justice Department getting on their case. Not to mention the fact that PETA has THIS video on their website called "Meet your meat," which shows the slaughtering of various animals for human consumption. Now how exactly do they differ? Both are animals, and both are eaten by humans for nourishment and survival. Depending on where you are in the world it would make the difference between acceptability of eating cats, dogs, cows or whales. In Japan they eat whale meat. In North America, we do not. In Asia they eat cats and dogs. In North America, we do not. In India they do not eat cows. In North America, we do. What makes me sick about groups like PETA is that they'll raise hell over a video clip showing the cultural habits of an ethnic group distributed on the Internet, yet not sue the people that are putting 6 million animals to death in our country every year because they are unwanted or strays. I did not make the video clip, nor did I add the soundtrack. This is reality, this is raw, and straight out of Korea. Some people have no other choice but to eat cats. Personally after watching that video a week ago, I haven't been able to eat meat because I have been so disgusted with myself. Why doesn't PETA report McDonalds to the Department Of Justice for having chickens, pigs and cows slaughtered for food, cooked and then sold? Hell, PETA should report themselves for selling the VHS tape of Meet Your Meet online! Why does my posting of this video differ from theirs? Both are in an education context, both discuss the social aspect of eating other animals. What also really pisses me off about this whole ordeal is how a so-called respectable publication like WIRED would sink so low as to write an article about... ME! It's like seeing Mr. Rogers smoking a crack pipe. Some things are just not meant to happen. Want to know why they did it? Well, rumor has it that the mainstream media really doesn't have anything important to talk about, so they have to whore out cheap tabloid type articles and sensationalistic news to try and keep their audience of mental drones appeased. By talking about a site like mine, they are actually "lowering" themselves to my level, but in a way where it's considered to be "respectable journalism," when it is nothing more than doing exactly what I do on this site every day. Kind of like Jerry Springer syndrome -- Being in the mess and above it at the same time. Now besides the fact that the author of the Wired article is a liar (I offered to comment on the video many times via e-mail after receiving an e-mail from him a few days ago asking for an interview and he claims they were unable to get in contact with me), things are taken out of context. Now why am I not surprised, coming from the commercial mainstream media, that something like this would happen? You want to know what really scares me about this whole ordeal? Not one person even commented on the video of the kidnapped Russian soldier getting throat sliced open by a Chechen terrorist. NOT ONE. Humanity has it's priorities seriously fucked up.
